KOREAN-AMERICAN ROOTS While weve been working with this sauce for the past 20 years at Momofuku, Daves been eating versions of this sauce his whole life. His moms galbi marinade always included pear, soy, and sweet mirin (even though she always refused to reveal her real recipe!). These flavors were essential to Daves Korean-American upbringing, as well as the Momofuku pantry. FULL FLAVOR, BUILT OVER TIME In 2015, we launched Ssm Sauce, our first Korean BBQ sauce, and our communitys been asking us to bring it back for years. Weve spent the time since tweaking and improving this sauce so it matches the restaurant-grade quality of our current pantry line.
