Product Description
Southern Sunbeams on Your Plate
Forget store-bought greens that whisper of flavor, cultivate southern sunshine with our Vates Collard seeds. These deep blue giants aren't just vegetables, they're sun-kissed leaves of soul food, ready to transport your meals to a taste of the American South.
A Legacy of Southern Comfort:
- Generations of Goodness: Developed by the Virginia Truck Experiment Station and beloved for over 70 years, Vates Collards are a heritage hero, prized for their large, tender leaves and exceptional resilience. These aren't your tough, bitter collards; they're melt-in-your-mouth masterpieces!
- Bolt-Resistant Champions: No need to rush! Vates Collards boast natural resistance to bolting, extending your harvest season and ensuring a bounty of flavorful leaves until the first frost. Patience is rewarded with platefuls of southern sunshine.
- Frost-Kissed Delights: Unlike most greens, Vates Collards thrive in cooler weather, their flavor actually intensifying with a light frost. Embrace the autumn chill and reap the rewards of even sweeter, more delicious collards.
Quantities: Choose Your Southern Bounty:
- 1.6g Sampler: A taste of southern tradition! Ideal for adventurous foodies or curious gardeners. Experiment with classic ham hock braises, creamy soups, or simply sautéed with garlic for a quick taste of sunshine on your plate.
- 1oz Pouch: Elevate your everyday meals with a steady supply of homegrown goodness. Toss into stir-fries for a vitamin-packed boost, add them to stews for rich depth, or pile them onto sandwiches for a satisfying crunch.
- 1lb Bulk Bag: Unleash your inner collard connoisseur! Ideal for families, restaurants, and farmers' markets. Create endless culinary adventures, pickle them for tangy snacks, or share the bounty with friends and family for a taste of southern hospitality.
Easy Growing, Abundant Rewards:
- Sun-Kissed Satisfaction: Give your Vates Collards plenty of sunshine and well-drained soil, and watch them thrive! No green thumb required, just basic care for maximum tenderness and sweetness.
- Harvest the Sunshine: Enjoy tender greens in just 68 days. Let the leaves mature for deeper flavor, or harvest young for a milder taste. With continuous plantings, you can savor southern delights all season long.
- More Than Just Greens: From creamy mac and cheese to hearty wraps and crispy fritters, Vates Collards shine in endless culinary creations. Their versatility knows no bounds, limited only by your imagination.
Bring a touch of southern tradition and sun-kissed flavor to your plate. Order your Vates Collard seeds today and cultivate your own taste of the South!
