If you’re bored of rice, then quinoa is a great healthy alternative that’s packed full of goodness.
Tri-color quinoa is made of a mix of white, black and red quinoa seeds so it’s more flavorful and has more texture compared to just regular white quinoa. When mixed with a little sautéed garlic and plant-based butter, things get really tasty!
Perfect to serve in place of rice, quinoa (KEEN-WAH) sits wonderfully with curries, stir fries, stews and pretty much most dinners.
Though technically a seed, Quinoa is classified as a whole grain and is a good source of plant protein and fiber that will keep you feeling full. One cup cooked provides about 8 grams of protein and 5 grams of fiber. It’s also a great source of antioxidants, vitamin E, iron and folate. Quinoa also has a natural insect repellent, so farmers do not need to use pesticides on the crops.
